This page covers what RECAI Labs collects through recai.ca — why we collect it, where it goes, and how long we keep it. It does not cover employment or contractor records, which are handled separately.
recai.ca is a static site. It has no accounts, sets no cookies of its own, and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Two parts of it — the project brief flow at /start/ and the form on /contact.html — are described in detail below, because what they do today is narrower than what they will do once the services behind them are live.
What we collect
Browsing this site requires no account and collects no personal information beyond the standard web server logs kept by our host: IP address, user agent, the page requested, and a timestamp. There is no analytics, no cross-site tracking, and no ad network on any page.
Fonts are loaded from Google. Every page requests its typefaces from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. That request tells Google your IP address and browser, as any third-party request does. It is the only third-party request this site makes.
The form on /contact.html
The contact form asks for your name, email, and message, and optionally your organization and what kind of enquiry it is. What happens when you submit it depends on whether our database is configured, and today it is not:
- Today, nothing is transmitted by the page. Your details stay in your browser. Submitting opens a prefilled message in your own email client, addressed to ahmad@recai.ca. We receive it only if you then choose to send that email — at which point it is an ordinary email, held in our inbox.
- When the database is live, submissions will be stored directly in a Postgres database hosted in Canada (ca-central-1) instead, and the email fallback will remain for the times it cannot be reached. We will update the date on this page when that changes.
The form also reads the topic parameter in the URL, which is simply which button you clicked to get there.
The project brief flow at /start/
/start/ asks you to describe your project and then shows you the shape of team it would take. It is labelled a prototype on the page itself, and that label is accurate — it matters here because it changes what happens to what you type:
- Your description never leaves your browser. It is read on your own device by keyword matching, not by a language model. The page makes one network request, for its own list of anonymised panel roles. Your text is not uploaded, not transmitted, not logged, and not stored — by us or by anyone else.
- Nothing on that page submits anywhere. The name and email field, the calendar, and the sprint pricing are interface only. No enquiry is created, no meeting is booked, and no payment is taken or attempted. The page says so at each of those steps.
- Uploaded files are not processed. Selecting a document does not read or send it; the page asks you to paste the text instead.
What will change when the recommender is live
The intended version of /start/ reads your brief with a language model rather than by keyword. None of the following is happening yet. When it does, this page will be updated first, and the page itself will stop describing itself as a prototype:
- Brief content will be sent to Anthropic's API (the company behind the Claude models) to be read and summarized, processed there and not retained beyond serving that request, under Anthropic's own API terms.
- Data residency: Anthropic's API is hosted in the United States. That will be true regardless of where the rest of our infrastructure runs, including any Canadian location. We will not be able to represent that brief content processed by the recommender stays in Canada. If your material is confidential or subject to a residency requirement, contact us directly so we can scope data handling before anything is shared — that advice holds now and will hold then.
- We will not store the document itself — read once, used to generate a recommendation, discarded. A summary of what we understood would be retained only if you then chose to submit it to us as an enquiry.
- If a brief contains text addressed to an automated system rather than to a reader — an attempt to redirect what the model does — it will be ignored and flagged in the result, so that nothing acts on it silently.
Why we collect it
Solely to respond to your enquiry: to prepare a scoped proposal, follow up by email or phone, and work out which of our services or panel members are relevant to what you are asking about.
Where it goes
Enquiries reach RECAI Labs' inbox (ahmad@recai.ca). We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Retention
Because the only enquiries we currently receive are ordinary emails, they are kept in our inbox for as long as reasonably needed to respond and, if an engagement follows, for the duration of that engagement plus our standard record-keeping period. You can ask us to delete what you sent at any time — email ahmad@recai.ca and we will action it.
Your choices
Everything on this site that collects anything is optional: you can read every page, and use /start/ in full, without giving us your name. Cookies and site data can be controlled through your browser settings, though this site sets none of its own.
